Program starts Wednesday, November 5th

This league focuses on skills & drills during the 1st three weeks followed by 4 games during the 2nd half of the session. Parents are welcome to attend on game days but are not permitted in gym during initial practice sessions (unless they are signed up to be a coach).

PROGRAM OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVES

The Grove City YMCA Youth Basketball is a two part program designed for kids of all ages. It allows for you to choose how you want your child to develop in the game. There will be options for you to sign up for Skills and Drills and/or Game Nights. On Skills and Drills night, the goal is to sharpen all aspects of the game, prioritizing development in the basics without playing the game itself. Game Nights will be solely for game play, teaching the ins and outs of the game. Teams will be created to play together each week. There is the option to participate in both to get the most of out the program. We will only offer this option to ages 5-12. (3&4 yr. old will only be offered Skills and Drills)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Skills and Drills Night

• Skills Night will run Mondays November 3rd to December 8th
• Open to boys and girls 3-12 years old
• Age divisions 3-4, 5-8, 9-12
• Times: 5pm and 6pm (Age group dependent)
• Skill learning and technical ability training
• No T-Shirt For Skills and Drills

Game Night

• Game Nights will run on Tuesdays November 4th to December 9th
• Open to boys and girls 5-12
• Age divisions 5-6, 7-9, 10-12
• Times: 5pm and 6pm (Age group dependent)
• Game play every night
• Each player will receive a team shirt

Division includes: K & 1st gr., 2nd & 3rd gr. Program focuses on basics of basketball & will eventually include competition based mini games such as 1 on 1, 2 v. 2, steal the bacon, dribble knockout, etc.

Saturdays plus 1 Monday evening, Nov. 8th -Dec. 20th

A few days prior to the start of the program you will get an email reminder with exact playing times.  *Parents are not permitted in gym during 1st three sessions unless they are signed up to be a coach.

NO BBALL on:

• 11/29- Thanksgiving Break
• 12/13- Gymnastics Invite

Saturday mornings starting with our youngest group (K-1st) going 1st.

Will likely be K & 1st gr. at 10AM and 2nd & 3rd gr. at 11AM

*May have to change times based on the number of kids that sign up

Preschool Division features 45 minutes of skills & drills focusing mainly on the basics- dribbling, passing, shooting (& listening) using age-appropriate balls and hoops.
